IRS offers tax information in Spanish language

Just a reminder from the IRS: a number of features are offered in the Spanish language at http://www.irs.gov/espanol. Here's what's available:

• Details on new economic recovery tax breaks, including those for first-time home buyers, home energy improvements, college tuition and computer expenses.

• Answers to common tax questions tied to the economy's downturn, such as job loss, debt forgiveness or tapping retirement funds. Type the keyword Que pasa si into the search box.

• Info on electronic filing: There's still time to e-file your 2008 taxes by Oct. 15 this year, if you previously requested a six-month extension.

• See if you qualify for the earned income tax credit (EITC), which is a refundable tax credit for low-income workers.

• Tips on how to protect yourself from identity theft and common tax scams and downloads of current tax tips by video or podcast.

Services are online in English, too.
