The East Cleveland Public Library is providing a new service aimed at assisting people in job searching and filling out job applications online, resume writing and career education.
Ohio’s unemployment rate was 10.9% in December 2009.

In order to meet the high demand of people looking for work, the East Cleveland Public Library has unveiled the JobShop: Career Education and Job Information Center. The dedicated area in the library features computers, books and materials for resume writing, entrepreneurship, college and career advancement, and much more. New links have been placed on the library’s web site for those searching for current job openings and career resources. A Librarian is available to provide one-on-one assistance on Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-3pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm-3pm.

Other services provided by the library include:

Free basic computer classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays

A regularly scheduled representative from the Ohio Benefit Bank is available to help people determine their eligibility for Food Stamps.

Free blood pressure, blood sugar and weight screening clinics provided by Huron Hospital the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month.

This free event will provide information about health, nutrition, breastfeeding, and community services for infants, toddlers, and expecting parents. The Hospital will also be providing free H1N1 vaccines for all ages, tours of the birthing center, and health screenings. So whether you are breastfeeding, an expectant mom, new parents, or trying to start your own little league team, mark your calendar for this event! All families are eligible to win various raffle prizes.

3/30/2010- Giving Parents a Hand: Navigating Toilet Training (Dr. Gerard Banez)

The purposes of this presentation are to (1) review surprising facts about toilet training, (2) outline child and parent readiness criteria, (3) describe helpful training strategies, (4) discuss potty seats, pull-ups, and other training accessories, and (5) discuss obstacles and problems in training. The importance of a patient, positive, and encouraging approach will be emphasized.
