Telemarketer Ameridial plans to bring 170 jobs to Canton

Telemarketer Ameridial plans to bring 170 new jobs to Canton city income tax rolls.

The Community Improvement Corp. voted Wednesday to loan the company $100,000 to open a new office on 30th Street NW.

Opening the office will create about 170 new jobs, although not all of them will be in the Canton office.

The company already is hiring at its Jackson office, and about 100 workers and supervisors will be transferred to Canton from there, said James Beouy, Ameridial director of quality assurance and corporate compliance.

Those 100 jobs in Jackson will be filled by new hires.

The company hopes to have the office open by April 1, if the needed high-speed Internet service is in place, Beouy said.

The anticipated first year’s payroll at the Canton office is $3.4 million. The CIC approved a no-interest, 5-year loan.

Ameridial’s final decision will be made after a state and city decision on job creation tax credits, city Development Director Robert Torres said.

City Council will receive a request to authorize the local tax break, he said.

In other news, the CIC also voted to loan Norcia Bakery $19,790 to purchase a new dough mixer and oven.
