Recycle Your Trash At Earth Day Event

As you spring-clean, don't toss old electronics and telephone books to the curb.

Recycle them, along with many other commonly tossed items, during the park district's second annual Earth Day Celebration, Wednesday, April 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Coventry Oaks Pavilion at Firestone Metro Park, 40 Axline Avenue in Akron.

Visitors can drive through the drop-off line, where staff and volunteers will unload recyclables, and then enjoy a nature display outside. The first 100 individuals/families who bring items to be recycled will receive a free green giveaway.

Acceptable items include cardboard, phone books, newspapers, magazines, books and e-waste, like batteries, cell phones, computers, VCRs and radios. Musical instruments will be collected for the Akron Public Schools' "Music Alive" program.

Residential drop-offs only, please. TVs will not be accepted during the event.
